Music Album: Hotel California by The Eagles Date: 1976 Hotel California was the Eagles fifth album released in 1976 and probably their most recognized. It had three number one hits on it. The first three songs on this album reached number one. The first is probably what most people think when they think about the Eagles is Hotel California one of my favorites. It has an excellent guitar solo at the end with good vocals making it an excellent song. The next song, New Kid In Town, is another excellent song and features the only lead vocal from Glenn Frey on the album. The last number one on this album is Life In The Fast Lane is another rocking song with another guitar solo. Next is Wasted Time, one of my favorites on here. It has excellent piano music as well as great vocals from Henley. I song always sounds good, even the live versions. Then comes a reprise of Wasted Time on strings. Victim Of Love is the sixth song on this album and has excellent guitar music like the two others on this album. Pretty Maids All In A Row is a good song and Walsh's first song as an Eagle. Try And Love Again is a Meisner song. It is okay but it is the weakest song on the album. The last song is The Last Resort, a very good, long song about the old west. This is the best Eagles album. It is a must.
On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair

About Song Hotel California Song Hotel California was an enormous success for the band, The Eagles, a band known for combining rock and country sounds. In 1976, when the song Hotel California came out, the band was having creative tension and a lot of their future depended on the sale and success of this album. At this time The Eagles were heavy into drugs, women, gambling, and booze, and these addictions came through in their music. The major message in this song is the promotion of drug use. The lyrics, Plenty of room at the Hotel California, any time of year, you can find it here embodies this point. Any time that you could want any illegal substance, it is readily available, and there is someone ready to use with you. Later on the lyrics continue to promote; They liven it up at the Hotel California, what a nice surprise, bring your alibis. Hotel California is a high for users and all you have to do is make an excuse, or an alibi, and you are free to do as you please. If you can justify this habit to yourself, then there isn't a problem. The most obvious meaning of Hotel California Song is that the drug user knows that the lifestyle he leads is dangerous and harmful, and he knows that he needs to get out of it. Up ahead in the distance I saw a shimmering light, my head grew heavy and my sight grew dim, I had to stop for the night This phrase shows that he saw the light, his way out, and he needed to stop. He later says, This could be heaven or this could be hell, the temptation is there, and the drugs are both his heaven and his hell. If he uses again, it will be his heaven, but if he doesn't life will be his hell. Some dance to remember, some dance to forget is telling us of all different kinds of users. Some people use to remember the good times they have had under the influence, and others use to forget the horror of their daily lives. There are other parts of this song that relate to a users lifestyle, including prostitutes and drug dealers. Her mind is Tiffany twisted, she got the Mercedes Benz, she got a lot of pretty pretty boys, she calls friends. This woman has men she refers to as friends, but are obviously more than that. She has a Mercedes Benz, which implies that she has a Sugar Daddy, or a pimp. The drug dealer in Hotel California is whom they refer to as the Captain. So I called up the Captain, please bring me my wine, and he said we haven't had that spirit here since 1969. This man is asking the dealer to bring him his drug of choice, and the Captain says no one has asked for this since the age of heavy drug use-1969. Hotel California song illustrates several times the fact that drug addiction is a permanent lifestyle. You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave! only exemplifies this point. The hardest part about choosing this path in life is that once you are in, you are in for good. Drugs are not the answer to your problems, and it is your own fault for turning to drugs as an answer. We are all just prisoners here of our own device they gathered for the feast, they stab it with their steely knives but they just cant kill the beast No matter how often you smoke, or how much you shoot up, you are not going to get away from your past or present or whatever it is that you are running from. I chose to interpret song Hotel California because it is a very controversial song. Hotel California, in my opinion, promotes and describes a life full of drugs and addictions. The Eagles were having troubles in their personal and professional lives, and I think that this song represents all of those problems, and the solutions they chose.
